Back in 1990 when Business Tourism was barely recognised by many, the Malaysian Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (MACEOS) was incepted with the objective of developing and raising the standards of the Business Events (BE) industry nationwide. With nearly three decades of upholding the industry, MACEOS has evolved over the years but continues to play its strong role in strategically reforming BE.
The Association is the mandated representatives of its members who hail from various business establishments including professional exhibition and conference organisers, venue providers, destination management and event management companies to other affiliated members include stand contractors, AV, logistics, airlines, travel & tours and more.
MACEOS initiates constructive growth through various activities that focuses on industry development, business facilitation and building human capital for the future. Positioning itself as the “Voice” of the industry, MACEOS will be driving efforts to represent BE players holistically by promoting Innovation, Development, Advocacy and Education.
The Asian Federation of Exhibition and Convention Associations (AFECA) was officially registered with the Singapore Registry of Societies on 25 January 2005. Prior to its registration, an assembly meeting was in Singapore on 21 September 2004. The assembly was attended by associations’ representatives from China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Taiwan.

MACEOS will continue to champion the MICE or Business Events industry in Malaysia and its Executive Council members with its permanent secretariat will seek to build on the excellent platform established in recent years to take the industry to the next level as we look to compete even more effectively with other countries in the region for a bigger piece of the lucrative MICE or Business Events market – especially with the creation of the AEC (ASEAN Economic Community) in 2015.
The objectives of MACEOS as outlined in the constitution are:
To promote and encourage an orderly growth of the convention and exhibition industry in Malaysia
To encourage and maintain high ethical standard of business conduct and professionalism generally by those directly or indirectly so engaged in convention and exhibition organizing and supplies
To promote and encourage fair and equitable trading, conduct and conditions within the convention and exhibition organizing and supplying industry and cooperation of members in all matters of mutual interest
To represent the industry generally in relation to or dealing with any governmental or quasi-governmental bodies or associations, federation or agency, press or other media of communication and others having dealing with or interest in the convention and exhibition industry
To provide information and professional advice to members and other free of cost or on such terms as may be thought fit regarding matters relating to conduct and rights and obligation of all kinds
To collect information and statistics on subjects of the industry which are likely to prove useful to members of the Association in the conduct of affairs and to develop within the industry means of technical education
